The best way to get to know Havana is to bike through its beautiful plazas, its architecturally rich avenues and its intriguing narrow lanes. You will have a chance to experience the city with all your senses; hear the sound of children laughing, adults "gritando", (after all it is Cuba!), and the waves crashing on the seawall.
As you spin through the streets on two wheels you will see two sides to Havana. You will experience the Havana that every visitor falls in love with and you will have a chance to explore Havana “detrás del telón” or behind the curtain; to hear rarely told stories and take a peek into its authentic and sometimes described as "Underground" culture. Vaya strives to present the old and the new, the traditional and the innovative sides Cuba.
Your tour will include three bike rides.
Bike Ride #1 "Havana on Two Wheels"
We will visit San Isidro, recently listed as one of the 15 coolest neighborhoods in the world by Timeout magazine. Here, actor Jorge Perugorría (Strawberries and Chocolate) transformed an abandoned bread factory into the Gallery Gorría, and filled it with cutting edge contemporary art. In the afternoon we will cruise through Old Town to explore the boutique shops and hip cafes of the Young Entrepreneurs of Havana. T.
Bike Ride #2 "The Evening Colors"
Experience Havana as it changes form into its nighttime persona. We will ride along the Malecon, the famous seawall that borders Havana. The colors, the sounds and the personality of the city completely transform as the sun disappears beneath the horizon. As the sun sets, the city becomes alive.
Bike Ride #3 "The Enchanted Forest" will give you a more verdant perspective of Havana. We will ride through the "bosque", the woods designed by French landscape architect Jean C. N. Forestier who created the gardens Champs-de Mars, cruise through the Tropical Gardens and pass by the Almendares River. And what's the best way to end a day in an enchanted forest? Of course, with a PicNik in the park!
CityKleta has designed 3 unique bike rides for you to safely explore the city. The terrain for the most part is level with only a few small hills. The weather in March could range from the low 70's to the high 80's so bring sunglasses, sunscreen and light jacket. Please, no sandals. CityKleta will provide helmets, safety vests and ponchos in case of rain.
